Oh the weather outside is frightful...
No we don't have snow...just lots of freezing rain. Yuck! I am enjoying some quiet time since Maggie and Henry are napping. Last night was a great night! My co-workers gathered together for a holiday party and we cut the rug. I am always fascinated by looking at who is married to who and observing how people behave outside of the office. I work with a great bunch of people who have so much character and laughter! The smile never left my face until my head hit the pillow.
I am looking forward to taking Maggie and Henry to pick out their first real Christmas tree. Since I am now the only person making the decisions in this house, I have decided to immerse my children in the traditions I grew up with and cherish. The past few years have been so ensconced in how much we spent on each person and how many gifts everyone received that the true joy of the holiday season was lost.
One of the first memories I am going to share and 'update' with my kids is making a pinecone wreath to hang above the fireplace. When I was a little girl I made a pinecone wreath with my grandmother. This wreath hung above the fireplace in our dining room for as long as I can remember. My mother would change the bow as the seasons and/or holidays changed. I do not know what happened to the wreath after the house was sold so I have always wanted to make another one. There are so many things we plan to do and put off until we have time. Well, I am going to make time for this project and I hope that my children gain wonderful memories in the process.

Inagural Post
I know it is the Christmas season when I can enjoy a quiet night with the Griswolds. Best part of the season so far is the fact that Maggie and Henry love National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. (They get that from my side, ha!)
